question one:In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Above is a marina and the diamonds video that we watched and got a bit of inspiration from.

This extreme close up of the lips above was highly influential to our music video. The colour red we decided to use throughout and the idea of having gems/glitter to add more colour to the piece making it seem more like a pop video. With having the extreme close up on the lips we thought in confided with the conventions of the genre of our music video.

The editing was also very influential as it cuts to the beat and the images don't make sense which we liked, so we tried to use many mid shots throughout our music video, but try and change them more frequently as the duration of the clips were very long.
The narrative in this video was not very clear at all, it doesn't make sense, its just random images of her in different outfits. We thought that if we did this for our video it may contrast throughout thee song as its about a dream like state and this ends blurry which we didn't like so we wanted to leave it on a cliff hanger, so we ended it in bed with her eyes opening this way we found more closure to the piece leaving a bigger impact.

Looking at this clip and all the previous ones, all the mise en scene throughout gives connotations of typical pop video and we liked the idea of the video not having to make sense but we liked the white back ground with the glitter, we thought this was really significant and would suit our video.

Above is Florence and the machine's 'Cosmic love' from the same genre of florence and the machine.

Throughout the video there are mainly mid shots focusing on the upper body which yet again we found very influential and decided it may be helpful to put them in our video. There was one very significant shot which was a extreme close up on to her eyes which stood out so we thought that something like this but with a different part of the face may look good and work well in our video.
The editing through the video was very continous and worked very well, the best part about this video is the fact of how the colour would change do there was a possible meaning behind this and we liked how this made us as the viewers think so we liked the possible story and the sharp editing to the beat which made it more viewable and easy watching as the clips were short.
The narrative throughout this video is very intriguing, as she takes the light 'her soul' out of her heart and puts in back in to the light bulb and the light has a has a heart beat, this is clever as it syncs withe the music for example 'you left me in the dark' because then its clearly showing there is a story to the video.
The mise en scene throughout this video is very clear and has two different meanings, she is wearing two very contrasting out fits for example black and white and they are on the opposite backgrounds which is interesting a the song is about light and dark. we found this very interesting and it was like two different things were happening and we thought the outfit change was a very clever idea. the use of setting is  very good idea yet again but we think that is quite abstract for a pop video and we thought we should maybe use a much more simple setting.
Based on the genre of our music video we have tried to incorporate as many  of the above:

Throughout our music video we focused on trying to get as many mid shots in as possible as we know that they are quite common to this genre. also we liked the extreme close up on the lips so we thought that we would take this idea from a previous marina and the diamonds video as it  focuses on the glitter which is a typical convention of the artists look.

As this this video comes under the pop category we decided that we would cut to the beat making it more viewable like the previous music videos above making it easy on the eye and

The narrative was very similar to the above videos. As we liked the idea for the audience to not know what happened and come away thinking about what they just saw we wanted this to happen in our video so as this is typical of this genre we also decided to put her singing in and a second story but we did challenged it by making it random and meaningless so there wasn't a specific story. We also wanted to make our video like a fantasy to go with the lyrics.

In our video we made sure that we focused on the mise en scene so it all tied in, as the lyrics were 'living in a state of dreaming' we put the clouds in and blew the glitter and had it on her hand so that it would make more sense to an audience as there were three different locations and it was cut to the music so it didn't have to make sense. we made sure we used the same colours throughout the video for example the white and light blues and silvers as they are all quite dream like colours which challenge the videos above as they use bold colours. We have also challenged the genre through the use of location for example the forest which isn't very abstract compared to the others.

Overall our video meets the 'typical' conventions of a pop video yet challenges it with the use of location and colours but this doesn't make the music video and less pop like
