What have you learned from your audience feedback?
Audience feedback is important so that we can make sure our
video is the best it can be. With more people’s perspectives, we can change our
music video to make it suitable for a wider audience. It helps us see issues
that maybe we didn’t spot ourselves. Our target audience will typically be
young-middle ages girls, however this genre is not just specific to this group,
other people also like this music and artist.
We gained feedback throughout making the video by asking our
teacher for her opinion. After the music video was complete, we asked other
members in our class to complete a questionnaire (shown above). We found from
this feedback that our video looked professional, and held the audience’s
attention throughout. Nobody noticed any issues with lip-syncing, and they all
said that the video was suitable for the artist/genre, following the conventions
of the genre. A few people commented on the dancers/dancing stating that it was
suitable for the genre and went well with the song. Things which we were told
could be improved were the variety of locations, more of a narrative to the
video and the letterboxing around some of the shots. As you can see from the
images from our music video, most of them are letterboxed however we didn’t letterbox
the final shots we filmed (with the white background) making the letterboxing
inconsistent.
We changed our production throughout with feedback from our
teacher. However, as we asked for the rest of the feedback after our video was
complete, we were unable to make any changes. If we did have time, we would
make sure that all shots had the letterbox effect, included more settings, and
put more of an emphasis on the narrative. We do agree with the feedback,
however we feel that we included a variety of scenes, but maybe could have used
more.
Shots from our music video:
This shot shows the dancers in the video, as mentioned in our feedback, this style fits with our genre. This shows a performance part of the video.
This shows us using the green screen as part of our performance in the music video, which was effective along with the disco lights.
These two shots show that the letterboxing was not consistent throughout the video, we should have edited the final shots that we put into the video.
As some were unclear on our narrative, we chose these shots to show that she is in a dream throughout the video, as shown by her waking up in bed at the end. The shot in the woods shows she is in a 'dream world'. All of these shots also show a varitey of scenes, as mentioned in our feedback.
This shows the main words given in our feedback, the ones standing out being 'well', 'setting', 'effects' and 'good'.
